🎷 About A‑Delta Trio
A‑Delta Trio is a contemporary saxophone ensemble based in Basel, Switzerland. It is formed by Álvaro Rodríguez Cabezas, Maria Chamizo, and Miguel Fernández. The trio is known for its creative and open approach to repertoire. From the very beginning, their goal has been to explore the saxophone trio’s full potential within both historical and modern contexts.
🎼 Repertoire: From Baroque to Contemporary
They combine historical transcriptions and original arrangements with the performance of new music. For instance, their work includes adaptations of pieces by the Bach family, Mozart, Leo Weiner, Lutosławski, and Hector Villalobos. In addition, they commission and premiere new works by emerging composers, contributing to the development of this still rare formation.
🆕 New Works and Premieres
In March 2024, they premiered a new saxophone trio by Eli Korman. More recently, they performed a commissioned work by Guiomar Ortiz in the final round of the JM Spain Chamber Music Competition. They will soon premiere a new piece by Benjamin Attahir, further expanding the contemporary saxophone trio repertoire.
